DR GABRIEL PIRJOL

Dr Gabriel Pirjol completed his undergraduate studies in medicine at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, in 1989, before continuing with his training in various surgical disciplines at Grey's Hospital in Pietermaritzburg. He qualified as an orthopaedic surgeon in 1999 from the University of Natal and has a particular interest in arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement surgery, sports medicine and orthopaedic degenerative disease management.

Due to his interest in arthroscopic surgery, Dr Pirjol has attended courses and practical workshops organised locally and internationally for the last 20 years. These include events organised by prestigious organisations like the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the European Shoulder and Elbow Society, and the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy.

Dr Pirjol strives to explore all non-surgical treatments before considering surgery for his patients. The use of world-class equipment and minimally invasive arthroscopic shoulder, knee, wrist and hip surgery ensures patients will recover with as little pain and discomfort as possible.

Dr Pirjol has been working as an orthopaedic surgeon consulting from St. Augustine's Hospital and operating from St. Augustine's, Westville and Capital Haematology Hospitals. His services include in-house ultrasound assessments and treatment for various conditions.
